WHO Warns, No Herd Immunity From Covid-19 In 2021
On Monday, the scientists at the World Health Organization stated that even if the vaccinations for COVID-19 are available for masses, achieving herd immunity to the virus in this present year is not possible. Though one of the leading producers has boosted the production still the whole situation doesn’t seem very promising.
Meanwhile, England has launched its first mass-inoculation sites in the major cities so they can beat the rapid spread of the coronavirus disease.
More than 90 million have been affected due to this pandemic and the death rate has passed 1.94 million since the first case of death was confirmed in Wuhan, China a year ago. China has been able to deal with the virus by bringing it under control, but still, the country is dealing with many local infections.
On Monday, more than half a million people were under lockdown in Beijing because the Government had imposed some very strict measures to deal with a few cases. Though In Europe, the number of infection cases has risen, and in Britain, the hospitals were extremely engulfed in the latest stressed situation of the disease.
On Sunday, the first case of the latest UK Coronavirus strain was confirmed in Russia and scientists fear that this is going to be more contagious.

The German Company BioNTech has said that they have the ability to boost the production of millions of more doses which is being expected from them. They said that they have the capability to boost the production forecast from 1.3 million to 2 billion.
Countries are facing challenges to deliver the jabs and this announcement from BioNTech has partnered with US firm Pfizer to produce the vaccine that will be approved in the West first.
Companies have also warned that there are chances for COVID-19 to become an endemic disease. They also said that the vaccines should be capable of fighting with the new variants of the virus that give a weak immune response naturally.
Later on Monday, Soumya Swaminathan, the Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization warned that it is a time-consuming activity to produce and administer the vaccines for stopping the spread of the disease.
She further said, in 2021 it will not be possible to achieve any level of population immunity and herd immunity and stressed the importance of maintaining social distance, wearing masks, and washing hands.
Britain is the first country that has approved the BioNTech/ Pfizer jab and on Monday, across England opened 7 mass vaccination sites.
Chris Whitty, the Chief Medical officer told BBC Television that the next few weeks are going to be worse when it comes to the numbers in the National Health Service. He added that the lockdown guidelines that have been laid need to be adhered to strictly and it should be observed properly so the vaccines can do their work precisely.
The cases have risen like anything in India and it is the second biggest virus caseload that will be given shots from Saturday for 1.3 billion people.
The officials of Russia said that they will be trying one dose of Sputnik V vaccine on Monday, so for hardest-hit countries, this can work as a stopgap solution.
Meanwhile, South Africa has shut down the borders so the new strain of the Virus may not result in the rise of cases.
